Tuesday 6 October saw the official launch of The Benson, Toorak’s newest and most prestigious retirement development by His Grace Archbishop Denis Hart, Archbishop of Melbourne, at a function on the site at 585 Toorak Road.
Healthy demand has been generated for The Benson, with 20% of the boutique apartments selling in the first week of launching and considerable interest in the top level penthouse, which sold immediately. The Benson comprises 34 retirement apartments and is being developed by St Peter’s Parish to help fund critical repairs to their 104 year old Catholic church.
John Ralph, head of the Parish Renewal and Development Committee, was pleased but not surprised by the market’s response. “Our vision was to create high quality retirement accommodation designed in sympathetic style to the adjacent church, that would appeal to residents of the local area looking to downsize from larger homes without compromising space and liveability.
Guests were entertained by musicians from Loreto Mandeville Hall and St Kevin’s Toorak and took tours of the display suite.
The Benson encompasses 34 lavishly appointed apartments starting from just under $1 million with shared facilities including a club lounge, gym and concierge, creating Melbourne’s premier retirement destination.
